Betty

Animal Rescue of the Rockies

ARR was formed in 2003 to provide an alternative to shelter environments for homeless dogs and cats. By providing foster homes as a temporary measure until forever homes can be found, our pets are socialized and cared for individually.

Meet Betty

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Betty finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our  adoption application  so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Belly rubs are the way to 8-month-old Betty’s heart. At a fit 40 pounds, this black beauty has both been settling into her foster home and growing accustomed to the wider world outside. Ever so sweet and oh so loving, she not only loves belly rubs, she also loves scratches by her collar, and if her fosters are otherwise occupied, Betty is always lying next to, on top of or touching their 45-pound dog, Barley. When they’re not snuggling, they’re playing together all day long, and she’s fairly submissive towards him, rolling over with her belly up. She especially enjoys going for walks, walking best with a martingale collar (with additional confidence and leash training, she could be a great walking or running partner), and does well with every person and dog she encounters along the way. One of Betty’s preferred pastimes is “swimming” in the snow, army crawling with her back legs splooted out through the snow for as long as she can! She’ll even do this indoors, “swimming” off the couch into a full sploot on the floor, much to the amusement of her fosters. And she barks excitedly: when she wakes up in the morning, when her breakfast is being scooped, when she wants to play and when she wants attention. Highly intelligent and eager to please, Betty learns quickly, has nearly mastered “come,” “sit,” “no” and “off,” is at work on her crate and house-training and on learning about puppy manners. Only just starting life’s journey, Betty will bloom in a loving home that will patiently continue her socialization, perfect her manners and complete her training, including her commands, in exchange for her own bountiful love.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $425. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email [email protected] for more information, as we can't accept calls.
