Meet Bessie

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Bessie finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   One-year-old Bessie believes strongly in second chances. Sweet with a touch of shyness, and weighing a trim 38 pounds, she’s delightful, even happy-go-lucky the more confident she becomes inside her foster home. When she’s not burrowing cozily under the comforters on the bed in her foster mom’s home office, Bessie, who LOVES toys, can entertain herself endlessly by tossing them around. She also loves playing fetch, but what she especially enjoys is engaging her foster mom in genial games of tug with rope toys. Agile and athletic, Bessie thrives on two to three long, invigorating walks a day, is gently curious about the dogs she sees, and has, in the past, gotten along well with other friendly and playful dogs. Graciously greeting all guests, she was equally gracious towards the people she recently met when visiting a brewery with her foster mom. Motivated by food (can you say “chicken”) and toys, Bessie currently knows “sit” and “no,” is highly intelligent, eager to please, almost fully crate trained and diligently at work on her house-training. All Bessie needs now to bloom fully is an active home, perhaps with another friendly dog, that will bolster her confidence, continue her socialization, complete her training, including her commands, and love her fur-ever.    If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here .
