Meet Jewel

Jewel (aka Cookie) is a 2 year old Chihuahua mix with Husky-like markings. She's 15# and absolutely adorable. She learned the doggie door in one day, just following her foster brother in and out. She mostly does her business outside, with rare occasional accidents inside. She doesn't love her crate, but her foster mom has been working on it. Jewel really prefers to sleep in a big bed with her mom. She sleeps through the night without a peep. She tends to guard her food, especially when she is first settling in. If her forever home has other dogs, she'd prefer to eat separately. She likes to establish herself as the queen of the house with other dogs, so it might take a minute to see how the hierarchy works out. Jewel is very playful and friendly with other dogs, when introduced slowly, it took about a week for her to friend her foster brother. Now they are inseparable and play all the time. She's also a people dog, follows her foster mom everywhere, sleeps by her side, and attached when she works from home. A yard is preferable to continue her house training and someone not gone long hours. She's not very vocal, except a little whine, when left alone for some time. She hasn't been destructive in the house, but needs chewy toys and bones to occupy herself. While on walks, she's following the lead nicely, but is very curious about people, sounds, cars and other dogs, without barking, just stopping and watching. She's great with older respectful kids, and very playful, likes to zoom around. We haven’t tested her with young kids under 6 y/o or cats, but she's not reactive to squirrels. Jewel is spayed, utd on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. Her adoption fee is $375 and we are not doing any out of state adoptions.

Adoption Process
Meet and greet application, personal and vet reference check (we require all current and previous pets be altered and utd on fire vaccs unless vet note), home/yard/fence check and meet with all member in home including both two and four legged. If determined to be a good fit, adoption contract and payment. We require dogs must be returned to our rescue if adopter can no longer care for the dog.
