Animal Rescue of the Rockies

ARR was formed in 2003 to provide an alternative to shelter environments for homeless dogs and cats. By providing foster homes as a temporary measure until forever homes can be found, our pets are socialized and cared for individually.

Meet Perd Hapley

Posing happily with one of his many toys is playful 1-year-old Perd Hapley. At 35 pounds, he’s still very much a puppy, sweet and social, enthusiastic and energetic, who loves cuddling with his foster mom, having his belly rubbed and doing the ranger crawl. Curious yet calm, he’s self sufficient enough to play by himself and keep himself entertained by tossing his squeaky toys around and then chasing after them. Not a great fan of rope toys, he’ll tug on anything if his foster mom grabs it, is learning to play fetch, and enjoys going for at least one walk a day, walking well on leash with minimal pulling, then running – or hopping like a bunny – around the backyard. As friendly as he is frisky, he’s somewhat awkward when first meeting new people, but within minutes he loves them! Motivated by food and toys and highly trainable with repetition and positive reinforcement, he accepts all treats (he DOES NOT like peanut butter) gently, and knows “come”, “sit”, “stay”, “no”, “shake” and “down” (he responds to this for both lying down and getting off people). Crate trained, almost fully house trained and diligently at work on his puppy manners, this precious pup will thrive in a loving home that will patiently perfect his manners, socialize him with other dogs, complete his training, including his commands, and keep him content, mentally and physically fur-ever.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application received in the order they're submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If your home sounds like a good match for you and the pet, we will connect you with our dogs' foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a "meet and greet" is set up. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to finalize the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $300.  Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all DAPP boosters after adoption. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for any rabies vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email [email protected] for more information, as we can't accept calls at this time.
