This beautiful girl fills us with “pride,” and we’d be “lion” if we said she hasn’t captured our hearts already. Simba is a playful, affectionate and obedient puppy. She listens well and responds to corrections from the adults and children in her foster home. She’s indifferent towards her cat roommate, but that doesn’t make a home with cats a dealbreaker necessarily. We know that she will settle into any loving home just fine. This big teddy bear will be happy with a family that’s as ready for training as they are for hugs and cuddles! Like any puppy, Simba has some skills to work on, like household manners (she isn’t quite aware of her size yet and thinks she’s a lap dog!) She’s made progress in this area, along with crate training and leash training but will need reinforcement of these skills to help her become a great companion. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and her human family. It’s lots of fun, too! Medical Note: This dog tested positive for exposure to Ehrlichia while in SOS foster care. This does not mean that this dog had Ehrlichia. This dog is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and was preventatively treated with a 28-day course of doxycycline. Please see here for more information on Ehrlichia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehrlichiosis_(canine). Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor. Will you give this sweet girl her forever family? Don’t wait too long—“Mufasa” and fill out an application now! To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
