Meet Chloe

To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: 1 year  Weight: 70 lbs. This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Chloe! This sweet, loving girl looks to be about a year old, and likely a Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix. She is a very smart pup and a quick learner. She walks on a leash well, is comfortable in her crate, housetrained, and knows lots of commands including sit, wait, down, and come. She likes toys and loves chewing on bones! Chloe had a tough start in life but is a very happy, easygoing dog, ready to find her new forever home. She was abandoned around 7-8 months old in the woods and has not had a very steady home life, but is doing okay in her more recent foster home. She has been living in a heated garage since early December with monitored socialization with the foster's two dogs and limited house time and excursions. When she does interact with the other dogs, she definitely has herder/referee tendencies. She is not aggressive but runs into the other dogs or will put her paw on them.   Since we don't know much about her past, we think it will be important for her to be in a quiet home with someone who can dedicate the time she needs to making her comfortable and at ease in her new environment. She is a fairly cautious and timid dog (also afraid of fireworks and similar loud noises), so we would not recommend a busy urban home or one with kids or other dogs. A fenced in yard would be great for her because that is all she knows so far, and has not yet gotten used to dense neighborhood walks. It will be very important for her new family to "keep her world small" for a while to build her trust and slowly introduce her to new people and experiences.  Chloe is a very kind and gentle dog. She loves to have her chest and tummy rubbed! She is a fast learner and eager to please, so we are confident that in the right environment, she will be the perfect lovable addition to your home.   An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:  Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
