Burlington County Animal Alliance

Burlington County Animal Alliance is a private, independent, 501(3)(c) nonprofit animal advocacy group, that was founded in 1999 by Lorraine Schrieber and Barb Giano who have a love for animals. To date, we have around 60 members of BCAA. We focus primarily on rescue and adoption of shelter dogs and cats in high kill shelters and surrounding areas in New Jersey. Our main focus is to make the public aware of the numbers of homeless dogs and cats there are in shelters and to promote adoption of these animals. We advocate spaying and neutering of all companion animals to counteract the overpopulation of dogs and cats and to end the tragedy of euthanizing healthy, unwanted companion pets.

Meet Heidi

Heidi is a very, very happy, family-oriented dog! Her tail is always wagging. She is approx 4 years old and 45 lbs but def needs to loose a few lbs.  She gets so excited to see you, whether it’s been 30 seconds or 4 hours since you walked out the door. She has been great with our dogs from the very first meeting. She’s wonderful with the boys (4 & 11). They are extremely hands on with her, and she doesn’t mind one bit. I’ve seen no toy or food guarding. They can pull anything out of her mouth, and they feed her snacks with no problem (she loves nuggets, chips, cheese.. I could go on.. haha). As far as her dog food, she eats well and is a grazer throughout the day. She doesn’t just eat it all at once. She loves toys and knows how to fetch. She will sit on command also. She seems to love having a “space”… here, it is her dog bed. She takes her toys and treats back to it, and she retreats there often and then comes right back. She does great on a leash and doesn’t pull. Sometimes on our walks, I’m pulling her.. haha. She’s done well with the neighbors and their pets. She just loves to be wherever you are. We have her off leash now in the yard constantly, and she doesn’t venture off. She just hangs with us and follows us back in when we go. One of her favorite things is when we exercise. She’s quite the helper! Haha. She is so short that she can walk right under the weight bench and she goes back and forth under there and pops up kissing my face. A few more things - she is great in the car, she sleeps well through the night, she enjoys her baths, and she knows to go out to potty. Appearance-wise, she is just as cute as she can be. She’s just below knee height. She’s got short legs and her body is pretty round. With exercise, she’ll thin out pretty quick, I believe. She is mostly white with black spots on her ears, some black around her eyes, and black spots throughout her body that show through from her skin. She is full of genuine joy and sweetness! She is a wonderful little companion. She definitely gives you her whole heart from day one. We have enjoyed her so much.
