Burlington County Animal Alliance

Burlington County Animal Alliance is a private, independent, 501(3)(c) nonprofit animal advocacy group, that was founded in 1999 by Lorraine Schrieber and Barb Giano who have a love for animals. To date, we have around 60 members of BCAA. We focus primarily on rescue and adoption of shelter dogs and cats in high kill shelters and surrounding areas in New Jersey. Our main focus is to make the public aware of the numbers of homeless dogs and cats there are in shelters and to promote adoption of these animals. We advocate spaying and neutering of all companion animals to counteract the overpopulation of dogs and cats and to end the tragedy of euthanizing healthy, unwanted companion pets.

Meet Leonard

Meet Leonard! Leonard is an adorable 7-year-old, 8-pound chihuahua looking for a loving home! He was not doing well in a local shelter and was facing euthanasia. We just had to save him - I mean do you see how cute he is! He does have his quirks, but he makes up for it with how loving and loyal he is. He gives the true, deep chihuahua love that only Chihuahua lovers can understand Leonard is a very typical chihuahua—feisty, full of personality, and totally unafraid to let you know what he wants. He’s got that classic chihuahua confidence packed into his petite frame. He can be protective of his home and people, especially when strangers come in, but he absolutely adores his people and loves to be close to them. Though initially shy, Leonard warms up quickly—especially if treats are involved! He is very food and treat motivated. He walks well on a leash and enjoys car rides, where he loves gazing out the window. He is both house and crate trained, though he may mark in a new place at first—but a quick correction gets him right back on track. This tiny boy is fully vetted and recently had a dental, so his teeth are sparkling clean. He gets along great with other small dogs. Big dogs scare him, but he’ll likely warm up with time and patience.Leonard will do best in a home with teens or adults only. He enjoys chilling in a sunny window watching the world go by or snuggling in your lap while you watch TV. If you’re looking for a small companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Leonard could be your perfect match! Apply at bcaaofnj.org
