Meet Sugar Plum

UPDATED:  12/26/22 - Sugar Plum's foster Mom can't say enough great things about her.  Sugar Plum is the "funnest" Beagle ever.  She is so much fun!  She loves running in the yard and sniffing everything in the yard.  Should she find a squirrel scent or a neighbor's dog on the fence, she'll let you know how excited she is.  She enjoys playing with a ball in the yard.  She can go, go, go and then chill out and take a nap.  She gets along famously with the other dogs in the foster home.  She loves to jump - super high.  She may have jumping beans in her genetics.  She hasn't needed to be crated in her foster home and has not had any accidents and so far she's house-trustworthy.  She's been left alone, uncrated for up to 5 hours.  She does signal to let you know when she needs to go outside.  Sugar Plum is a typical Beagle when it comes to her appetite - she's all in!  She loves food and wants to eat all the time.  She's high energy when playing but calms down well.  She's a cuddler.  Likes to sleep in bed with you.  Sugar Plum likes everyone she's met and she's quite gregarious!  Sugar Plum likes to "talk" to the nextdoor neighbor's dog.  It's a happy Beagle song.  She came to us with a harness and does pretty good on it on walks.  She loves her exercise.  She plays with toys a bit and has done great in the car so far.Sugar Plum was surrendered to an Alabama shelter by owners who said they could no longer take care of her and the other two dogs they brought with her. However they had no name for her at the shelter so we decided in the spirit of Christmas to call her Sugar Plum. She is a delightful little confection and appears to be full of energy. As of this writing we've only had her about a day so we really need to get to know her better. However we can share that she is not shy at all, very friendly and even seems to know her sit command. Sugar Plum was previously spayed and is heartworm negative. She is now up to date on all her vaccinations so as soon as we've had a chance to do a behavioral assessment we will be looking for just the right home for her.
