A Place of Hope Small Dog Rescue

A Place of Hope Small Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit small breed dog rescue located in Pensacola, Florida. We rescue and re-home small breed owner surrender, stray, and shelter dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a facility. The dogs in our care live in private homes with one of our fabulous foster families in and around the Pensacola area getting lots of TLC until they are adopted. Each dog is evaluated for placement in a home best suited to its needs and personality. At a minimum, every dog has a wellness checkup, is spayed/neutered, has age appropriate shots, is heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and microchipped with a lifetime registration. Dogs over 1 year of age receive a ProHeart 12 shot for heartworm prevention. We also do dentals, surgeries, and other treatments as needed. We adopt within a 1-6 hour drive to Pensacola. We do not ship or transport our dogs. Local applicants are given first consideration.

Meet AMY

AMY is a 9 year old, 6.2 pound Poodle surrendered to us after her owner went into a nursing home with dementia. Before coming to us, Amy was living in her home alone and we were happy to bring her in to find a new loving family! AMY is a super sweet and cute little girl. She is definitely a lap dog and will be on your lap 24/7 if you let her! She loves attention and gets jealous sometimes when she is on a lap and other dogs come close. She does not seem to have separation anxiety but follows her foster mom around the house and would be happiest with a person who can spend lots of time with her. AMY gets along fine with the other small dogs in her foster home but was an only in her prior home and doesn't need to have another dog in her new home. We do not know how she would be with cats or kids. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body though and older kids who are familiar with small dogs would probably be fine. AMY had a few accidents when she first got to her foster home but within a couple of days she figured out the routine and it's been an accident free since then. She does well going outside when she is taken out regularly. She walks ok on a leash and would probably fine with or without a fenced yard as long as she is kept on leash and has regular walks. She does have some good energy and likes to run around the yard, but does not like to stay outside too long or without her person. At night, AMY sleeps in the bed with her foster family, curled up under a blanket. She is a perfect little dog for someone who wants a sweet companion! AMY has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, has had a dental cleaning with seven extractions, is heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. To meet AMY please submit an online adoption appication for review by visiting our website www.aplaceofhoperescue.com and filling out an application on our application page. Submission of an application does not obligate you to adopt or guarantee approval. Remember to check your spam email for responses or follow up questions from our application review team. We are a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola FL and adopt within a 6-hour drive to Pensacola. Local applicants will be given first consideration.
