Skipper was surrendered to Pet Rescue by Judy along with his parents, Sheldon and Bella, when their owners were moving and could not take the dogs. Skipper is a handsome, long-haired Doxie. He will need regular brushing/grooming to keep his coat clean and trimmed. An adult-only home is best for him as he is shy and needs a patient owner who will bring out his personality. He prefers the company of ladies over men. A fenced backyard is required so he does not dart out. New owners should be careful with open doors as he will try to run out. Skipper's foster feels that Skipper would do well as an only dog . A home with a female owner(s) would be best because he does seem to trust women and warm up to them quickly and is a little more reserved about men. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The American Kennel Club says Dachshunds need regular exercise to stay fit and build strong muscles to support and protect their back. Two walks every day of moderate length is recommended. To avoid back injury, Dachshunds should avoid running up and down stairs or jumping on or off furniture.
Adoption Process
First step is to fill out an adoption application online. Once that has been received, an adoption screener is assigned to the application to ensure the pet is a a good fit.
