Swamp Haven Rescue, Inc.

We are Swamp Haven and this is our story. Swamp Haven is an animal rescue organization that takes down-on-their-luck dogs and nurtures them back to a healthy mental and physical state, so they can find their forever home. Our goal is simple. We save innocent dogs that have been overlooked by society and provide short-term care including vetting (vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip and heartworm and flea prevention) and training to learn how to walk politely on a leash, play in a pack and live calmly and lovingly in their new home.It all started a few years back when we made the move from the Pacific Northwest to North Florida. We were surprised to learn how many dogs lose their lives in shelters each month around this area and felt compelled to do something. In the beginning of 2015, we founded Swamp Haven, a 501c3 nonprofit dog rescue organization that survives entirely on donations. Feel free to noodle around our site and learn more about our organization including ways to donate, how you can foster a dog and our adoption process.

Meet Dolly Parton

You’ve seen her flaunting her stardom all over our story this past week, but now it’s time for us to officially introduce you to the ever adoptable, wonderfully talented - Miss Dolly Parton! Poor Dolly was found as a stray underweight, heartworm positive, and heartbreakingly, she was lactating. We can only guess at what her past was like, but true to her name Dolly Parton is a tough broad and she isn’t letting a thing bring her down! Dolly is a new designer breed of dog - the teacup houndie! Fully grown at a whopping 32lbs she looks like a “regular” full grown hound who got hit by a shrink ray! She is crated trained, loves people and is mostly potty trained. Dolly is very adaptable. Happy to relax and spend lots of time bouncing from cozy couch spot to cozy couch spot, but equally as happy to use her houndy snoot to smell all the smells - and boy does she LOVE to use her nose. She will come up from a good sniff with a nose full of dirt. Squirrels might also be her arch enemy, but she has discovered tortoises are spooky Dolly loves her toys, the softer the better, and she will carry them around and make a nest of them for a good cuddle session. While Dolly is generally happy to hang out and just vibe she is also a HUGE fan of other dogs. She will match the energy of her play mate easily and is PUMPED for all the zooming, wrestling or tug of war she can get into. Miss Dolly Parton is in the process of going through heartworm treatment, but we would love to get her into her forever home in the meantime. Dolly is only in a foster home for a couple more days and then she will be back in boarding, so if you aren’t ready to adopt but want to get a little extra sparkle in your life reach out to foster a true icon.

Adoption Process
When you adopt a dog from Swamp Haven, you’re not just saving a life. You’re beginning a journey filled with love, loyalty and trust. Life can be busy and stressful. The companionship of a dog is a constant reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things. At Swamp Haven, our mission isn’t to just help down-on-their-luck dogs find their forever homes. Our mission is to create a lasting relationship with you and your family. At Swamp Haven, our mission isn’t to just help down-on-their-luck dogs find their forever homes. Our mission is to create a lasting relationship with you and your family. Adopt happiness. Our adoption process is unique in that we work with you every step of the way to ensure that we’re placing the right dog with the right family. First, we like to have a phone chat to get a feel for the kind of dog that you’re looking for. Next, we have you fill out a foster application. After that, we come to your house with a carload of dogs for you to choose from and have you foster the dog of your choosing for a week to make sure that it’s a good fit. The last step is to finalize the adoption. And then congrats, you’re a new member of the Swamp Haven family and your happy tail has just begun! Our adoption fee is $300.
