Wallace is one of our special dogs and he is seeking an extra special home. Wallace was dumped along a rural road in Milton with his housemate. Several sightings were posted on our local lost and found pages. We quickly got to work scooping out the area and trying to form a plan on catching them. Unfortunately, the night before we could get out there Wallace's friend had been hit and killed by a car. This caused poor Wallace to go into panic mode. We worked on a feed site and plans to trap him. Unfortunately, his panic caused him to run further from our feed area late one night and he was hit by a car. He was posted on the lost and found pages where we quickly recognized him and had him brought immediately to our vet. Wallace sustained injuries to both hips that required a surgical procedure called FHO. And also a dislocated front shoulder. The shoulder due to it's location and severity could not be repaired, but his body has managed to adjust and he gets around just fine with no pain or mobility issues. Just a slight limp. He moves around great, but with age he may develop some arthritis and require to be on a daily anti-inflammatory. Wallace is about 6 years old and weighs about 20 pounds. We believe he is a mini Australian shepherd mix. He is the most perfect boy. Loves to cuddle, eager to please, and is just happy to be with his people. He is housebroken and kennel trained. He has been with his current foster, who helped work on catching him for 8 months while he has recovered from his surgeries. Because of this he has bonded with her very much. He will need a patient home that understands it might take him a little longer to adjust. A home without a lot of stairs and that lets him sleep in the bed and cuddle on the couch are a must. He gets along with other dogs of all sizes and cats. Fenced in yard would be preferred as he does love to lounge in the sun on a nice day. Included in each adoption: age appropriate shots, microchip, and spay/neuter surgery. Prior to meeting or adopting any of our wonderful animals, we ask that you please fill out our online application: https://form.jotform.com/223268341300041 We are a 100% volunteer organization and have to work other jobs to pay the bills. Please give us up to 48 hours to respond. Submission of an adoption application does not obligate you to adopt nor does it guarantee approval. We look forward to hearing from you. We are located in Pensacola, Fl. Local applications considered first, but will consider out of state applications if transport can be arranged. Please note all animals in the home must be altered, up to date on vaccines, and be on heartworm prevention. We understand there are some special cases and will take those into consideration.
