Meet Kierra
A SWEET VISUALLY IMPAIRED FRIEND: Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 13 lbs. Hi, I’m Kierra! I came from a situation where there were just way too many dogs, so animal control helped me and quite a few others work our way to Mostly Mutts, so we can all find new families to love. I spent some time in a nice foster home and now I’m in another foster home, so there will be even more information about me soon. I have significant vision loss so I’ll need a family that will keep me safe. I’ll be seeing a dog eye specialist soon, so if I’m adopted before that appointment, Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of the initial diagnostic appointment. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: My foster says I seem interested in other dogs. For example, when I hear the dog upstairs bark, I will cry a little while looking for them. I did live with many other dogs, so if you have a nice gentle dog at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / An 11-month-old recently visited my foster home and – while I was curious about them, I ran off and jumped in a chair when they showed interest in me. Much older, calm kids who will understand my limited vision will be best for me, and of course, let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a very, very sweet girl who is affectionate with my people. I’ve been very quiet in my foster home so far, which I think is a bonus for you! I can be a little shy at first, but I’ve warmed up pretty quickly – just give me a little time. My foster says I’m cuddly, but also independent – happy to cuddle for a bit and then go off and do my own thing. I’ve discovered soft toys and I once mistook a slipper for a toy, but my foster just exchanged it for a real stuffed toy, and I was happy. I have a calm nature and am a sweet little companion! / My energy level is currently 2-4. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I don’t know any specific commands, but if I am getting into mischief, I respond to the ‘eh -eh’ sound – understanding it to mean ‘no’. I bet you can teach me some great doggie commands. / My crate manners have been good in my foster home. I am quiet in it and sleep through the night there with no issues. Sometimes when my people leave to run an errand, they just let me sleep on the couch and I’ve done well with that. They can check on me through their pet camera, and I’ve done just fine. / My potty habits have been good in my foster home, as I’ve only had one accident the first night. They take me out every 4 hours during the day and I’ve done well with that. Sometimes it takes me a little while to use the bathroom outside, so give me that time please. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love to lounge and nap in my foster home. My favorite spot to settle into is a comfy reading chair with a soft blanket. I enjoy affection and having my fur brushed. I like to explore the back yard and perhaps find a nice sunny place to sunbathe with my people. Chewing bones and playing with a stuffed toy is also great! / A loud or chaotic environment would not be a good fit for me. I prefer a calm, quiet home as loud noises startle me. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. See opening statement for information about my vision loss. I am looking for a calm and loving furever home with a great family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
Adoption Process
Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process
Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:
Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!
Adoption Info:
Adoptions are being scheduled for approved applicants, by appointment only.
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.
Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly.
