Meet Joseph
A SWEET, SNUGGLY GUY: 6 years old / 18 lbs. and could lose a few pounds Hi, my name is Joseph! I had a home, but unfortunately my family was not able to keep me, which made me sad, but I am thankful that Mostly Mutts was able to help and now I get to find a new family to love and be loved by. I got to spend some time in a foster home and had fun, and now I’m living at the shelter while I wait to meet my new family, perhaps you? • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I liked all three of the male dogs in my foster home (large and small). I was friendly and non-reactive with them, just some mounting behavior as we established dominance order – easily correctable. I think I’d enjoy another nice doggie friend in my new home if you have one, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown / I’ve not met kids yet at Mostly Mutts or in my foster home, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. Also, children should be aware that I can be a door darter, so everyone should be mindful of keeping doors closed. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a super sweet and affectionate guy who quickly warmed up to the volunteers and enjoy climbing in their laps. When I was in a foster home, I settled in just fine and was a happy, playful tail-wagger with a permanently happy face who just wants to love and be loved. My fur is soft and I’m cuddly so I hope you will pet me a lot and cuddle with me too. My former family said that I could be vocal, and in my foster home I was vocal when I was crated and my people left the home, so I don’t think an apartment would be a good fit for me. / My energy level is approx. 4 – 6. I’m a pretty chill guy, but I will boost my energy level up to play and go for walks. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I don’t know any specific skills just yet, but I am interested in treats, so perhaps you can teach me some great doggie commands. We should work on training me not to dart out of doors as I don’t want to get lost or hurt! / I was not a fan of being in a crate when my foster family left home, so I did have some accidents in it as well as some barking. Perhaps we can work on making my crate a more positive place. / I reportedly did some marking in my previous home, though that was not the case in my foster home. My potty habits were pretty good there with just a couple accidents (except when in my crate), so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too. My former family did report that I would tinkle on their bed when I was left alone, so perhaps keep the doors closed or crate me when you are away. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I consider myself a true lap dog, and will seek out a comfy spot in yours, or I will make a little nest in some cozy blankets as I did after my bath at the shelter. My foster said that I seem to have been well-loved and just want to soak up the love and give kisses. I’d like to snuggle in bed with you at night if that is allowed. I really love to play chase and will give a cute little play bow to initiate the chase, but make sure I chase you and not the other way around since you always want me to run to you, not away from you if I get outside unintentionally. / Loud noises in the home do scare me, but hopefully I’ll get used to all the sounds in my new home quickly. And I’m not a fan of being left alone a lot and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention and exercise. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a fun and loving family to give me the very best life! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
Adoption Process
Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process
Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:
Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!
Adoption Info:
Adoptions are being scheduled for approved applicants, by appointment only.
