Meet Janie

LEARNING TO TRUST:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 10 lbs. Hello – I’m Janie!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control.  The volunteers have been patient with me to give me needed time to open up, and now I am settling into a great foster home.  I’m now ready to be a kind and patient family’s little companion, so plan to meet me soon! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  There are two adult dogs, male and female, in my foster home, and I get along with both of them very well.  I’ve started to play with them and I’d likely enjoy another dog friend in my new home, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts or in my foster home, so let’s meet and best no young kids as I’m very nervous around quick movements and would like a calm home.    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am an adorable girl who my foster describes as initially timid and anxious – needing a good bit of time and patience to warm up in my foster home.  I would ask that my new family give me the needed time to bond and build trust.  I will then be the ‘perfect partner’ to my new family.  I’m as playful and sweet as I am cute, once I get to know you. / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I don’t know any specific commands yet, as my foster mom is working with me on growing my confidence and mastering the stairs.  I AM food motivated, so perhaps you can teach me come great doggie commands. / I am quiet in my crate as long as I can see you, but I will whine in protest if you leave me.  I do calm myself down, but it may take a bit.  Therefore, a condo or apartment may not be a good fit for me. / The first couple of days, I was so scared, I wouldn't poop or pee in sight of my foster family, so there were accidents.  This has improved as I have settled in, with no accidents beyond day 4, so yay me!  My foster family takes me outside very regularly and they feel I can be trained to go potty outside exclusively.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I like to play and always enjoy having toys around. A fenced yard would be great for me, as I love to run around there and occasionally get the zoomies – so cute!  We can spend time there, too, with fun play sessions! I enjoy going for my walks in quieter areas and snuggling up in a cozy blanket.  Once I warm up, I enjoy the company and cuddles of my people. / Loud noises and fast movement make me nervous.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.  I have a luxating patella in my left rear leg, which is not uncommon for small dogs.  I take a daily Cosequin (joint supplement) to keep my joints feeling their best. I am looking for a patient family who will give me time and space to build trust.  Then, I will be the best partner you could ask for!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
