Southern Comfort Animal Rescue

Southern Comfort Animal Rescue, Inc. is 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that rescues and rehomes abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals.Southern Comfort was founded in 2001 in Savannah, Georgia, to provide shelter and find temporary foster or permanent homes for pets left behind when troops in nearby Ft. Stewart's 3rd Infantry Division shipped out to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2006, the organization moved to Glenwood, Georgia. Southern Comfort fills a critical need in Wheeler County, which has no other rescues or animal control. We specialize in physical, social and emotional rehabilitation of our rescues. All animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all medical treatment before being placed in carefully screened forever homes.Southern Comfort is a "no-kill" rescue and only euthanizes in cases of irremediable suffering or vicious and dangerous animals. We also work to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless animals and promote the benefits of adopting an animal in need through community outreach and education.

Meet Schotzie

***Schotzie will be available for adoption at Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ over the March 29-30 weekend. An application for her adoption should be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Schotzie and/or our adoption policy should be sent to [email protected]; please do not call the shelter's number.*** Schotzie and her five siblings came to our rescue as owner surrenders. Their former owner had no idea on how to care for puppies and had started feeding them mashed potatoes once they were weaned from their mom. The pups came to us loaded with various worms and had not yet received any of their required care. Immediately upon their arrival, we began administering their vaccinations and de-wormers and all of the pups now are healthy, happy and full of life! Other than being absolutely adorable, Schotzie is also one of the sweetest, most affectionate pups that you've ever met. She loves to snuggle and will give you endless kisses as she is all about showing you just how much love she has to give.  Schotzie will have already received 2/3 of her first year "puppy" vaccinations, her Bordetella vaccination and all of her scheduled de-wormings and preventative care (flea/tick, heartworm, etc.) Her adopter must agree to having Schotzie spay once she reaches 6 months of age and provide verification of such to our rescue. Schotzie will require all of her basic training.

Adoption Process
we have an adoption questionnaire as well as a contract. The only fees we charge are those we are charged for the animal (vet fees)
