Meet Channing
A SHY BUT VERY SWEET FELLOW: Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 12 lbs. Hello, my name’s Channing! I was rescued by Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I could not be more grateful. I got to spend a few days in a wonderful foster home and now I’m at the Mostly Mutts shelter ready to find my new home and family to love! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met a fairly large dog in the temporary foster home that I spent a few days in and initially growled at him, but I did eventually warm up a bit, so we coexisted together alright. I may have been intimidated by his size but I’m not totally sure. Perhaps if you have a smaller dog, we could meet. Also, I’ll meet dogs at Mostly Mutts soon. / I did well with the very ‘dog friendly’ kitty in my temp. foster home after I warned up to her (initially I was afraid). I was very interested in her and even wanted to play. I did not chase her, so if you have a dog friendly kitty, let’s meet! / While in my temp. foster home I met a couple of young kids and I was a bit fearful and leery, though I did seem interested in them – I think older calm and gentle kids may be best for me, so if you have kids like this such as 10+, let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I was very scared and very shy when I arrived at MM and the volunteer knew to give me time and let me come to them, so I started to settle in and enjoy their company. Then I got to spend a few days in a temp. foster home and once I felt safe and loved there, I came out of my shell, and they reported that I have quite the personality! I’m cuddly, like belly rubs and being with the family. I’m much more comfortable with women than men as a whole, so if there’s a man in my new home – he needs to understand that he’ll have to win me over so we can be good pals too. I’m truly a very sweet dog but afraid and timid of anyone new and anything new, so a nice calm and quiet type home would be best for me. / My energy level at the shelter was very low, though it increased to around 4-6, with the occasional 7 once I settled in at my temp. foster home. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and can't wait to learn lots of new skills with my trainer! In my temp. foster home, I had good leash manners and understood the word ‘no’. I do want to please you, so I think I’ll be open to learning lots more and I sure like treats which can make out training together fun and yummy for me! / I have good crate manners at MM and I did great in my crate in the temp. foster home - in fact, they left the crate door open during the day, and I would often go in there on my own. It seems to be a nice safe spot for me to nap. / I’ve had a few accidents on the shelter schedule, and I did fairly well with my potty manners in my temp. foster home. I knew to go outside, although I did have a couple of accidents in the house, seemingly more out of nervousness, so just know that I’ll need you to be patient and consistent with me. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I really enjoy playing with toys and will carry them around and stockpile them all together! I like to go for walks in quiet areas, enjoy some outside time with the family, like cuddling, ear scratches and belly rubs. / I’m not fond of riding in the car, although I just sit and whimper a little and I do better in a lap. I am timid about new things and new people, so please don’t rush me. I’m not a fan of stairs, but I’m sure I’ll figure them out if there are stairs in my new home. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’m a sweet guy looking for a calm and loving family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
Adoption Process
Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process
Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:
Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!
Adoption Info:
Adoptions are being scheduled for approved applicants, by appointment only.
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets.
