Meet Poppy
A LITTLE LOVE BUG: Approx. 8 years old / Approx. 9 lbs. Hi, my name is Poppy! Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I am so grateful! I have been spending time in a wonderful foster home and soaking up all the love and attention all dogs deserve. Now it’s time for me to find a loving home of my very own. I hope you will plan to meet me soon and see if I’m the new furry family member you have been looking for to complete your family! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I’m good with dogs in my foster home, because we all just mind our own business - lol. I don’t really interact or play with them – we just sniff each other and go on about our day. I’ve gone to a friend’s house, and they had a small dog that was very playful … and I was not a huge fan of that, but I did pretty well. If you have a dog that’s not looking for a playmate, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I like the 9-year-old boy who visits my foster home – he is my buddy, so if you have gentle children that age or older, let’s meet. I was not a fan of a 3-year-old I met – not in an aggressive way at all, I just didn’t want to be with them, so no younger kids please. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My foster describes me as ‘a very easy dog’ who is a wonderful ‘lovebug’. I am very much a lap dog and am super social with my people. I just want to be where they are because – after all – if I’m not with them – I may miss out on attention – which I love! I’m loving and cuddly – ready to be your best snuggle companion! I’ll follow you everywhere and have a bit of a clingy nature. / My energy level is 3-5. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I don’t know any commands just yet, though my foster is working with me on the ‘sit’ command. I bet you can teach me some great doggie commands! / I don’t like being in the crate. I protest with crying, though I’ve gotten better about not having accidents in there. It still happens, but I am improving. Due to my crying though, I should not live in an apartment/condo-type home. / My potty habits in my foster home are improving, though I am still having accidents. Positive reinforcement and a frequent and consistent let-out schedule are key to mastering my potty skills, so I need you to help me with that. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I LOVE being loved on and love being on a lap. I’m at my happiest, in fact, in a comfy lap. Additionally, I love to be carried anywhere you go, and – those belly rubs? They are the BEST! Sleeping under blankets also makes me happy. / Brrr … I don’t like cold weather or that pesky crate. Also, I either can’t or am afraid to go up and down the stairs in the home, so please carry me. I can, however, go up and down the 3 stairs to the outside. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have a luxating patella – which is not unusual for small dogs like me. I take a Cosequin chew daily to help keep my joints healthy. I’ve also just had a dental cleaning and had a lot of teeth removed due to dental disease, so I don’t have many left, but my mouth sure feels better! I am looking for my special family to love me for life! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
Adoption Process
Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process
Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:
Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!
Adoption Info:
Adoptions are being scheduled for approved applicants, by appointment only.
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.
Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.
