Meet Maggie
***Maggie is currently at our rescue in Georgia and available for adoption out of state provided transportation and certain other requirements are met. An application for Maggie's adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (No need to register or login). Questions about Maggie and/or our adoption policy should be sent to [email protected]; please do not call the rescue's phone number.*** Maggie was at a small, city animal control facility when Scott Bennett first saw her. Scott had been at the shelter to rescue a mom dog and her puppies who were scheduled to be euthanized. While Maggie would have been the only dog at the shelter after Scott left with the mom and pups, the city's strict 5-day hold policy meant that she would loose her life if no one came for her within the next 24 hours. While visiting with Maggie, who had been impounded as a stray, Scott sensed that she was pregnant, even though she didn't exhibit a swollen belly or other tell-tale signs that she was expecting. Scott took Maggie home with him that day and within two months discovered that his hunch was right after Maggie delivered TEN beautiful puppies! Maggie has always displayed a very gentle, affectionate and calm personality. She's instantly friends with everyone she meets, including other dogs, and doesn't seem to have anything but love to give. She will make an excellent choice for a family looking for a dog they can trust around their children and one who'll instantly become a beloved and cherished family member. Maggie has been spayed, kept up to date on her annual vaccines, de-wormings and preventative care since arriving at SoCo Rescue. She did recently test positive for heartworms and is currently undergoing her treatments and should be ready to go to her new home in late Dec. 2024. She has shown to have some house training experience but may need a refresher course once in her new home. ***We would greatly welcome a foster home that would allow Maggie a quiet, peaceful place to stay while she undergoes her heartworm treatment, which is approx. 90 days. SoCo Rescue will supply all of her needs. Contact us at [email protected] if interested in fostering Maggie.***
