Meet Skylar
A VERY BUSY PUPPY FRIEND: 2 Months / Medium once full grown Hi, my name is Skylar! Somehow, I found myself as a tiny lost puppy at just 5 weeks old! After my appropriate hold time, I became part of the Mostly Mutts family. Since then, I have been growing and thriving in my foster home. If you are looking for a super busy puppy to share your love with, I may be your girl! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I simply LOVE the other dogs I’ve met in my foster home. There are four of them, and I play well with the two that want a playmate, but – just as importantly, I am respectful and give space to the two who remind me they don’t want to play. My foster feels I would benefit from having another playful dog in my home, so – if your doggie who is looking for a playmate, let’s meet! / I’ve not shown nay aggression towards the kitties in my foster home, so if you have a dog-friendly (or dog-tolerant) kitty at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / I like to play with the children in my foster home (ages 8 and 11). However, I have sharp puppy teeth, so supervision is in order when we play. So, if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a sweet puppy who is ready for fun! I will snuggle briefly in your lap and give kisses – but only until my batteries recharge – then I am off to the next adventure. I am also fairly vocal, though my barking has a purpose – I want your attention, I want to play or – alas, I need your help. Please understand that I’m a herding breed pup, so my natural instinct is to herd things by nipping at their heels – kids, other pets, etc. It’s not a mean behavior – it’s instinct, so keep this in mind and give me an outlet to be active with you! / I have a very high energy level at about 8-9, so I’ll need my family to be very active with me, so we’ll all be happy! • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy – so get ready for some training with your new best friend. I already know the ‘sit’ command and respond to a firm ‘no’ when corrected. I’ve also mastered the stairs in my foster home. / I truly don’t care to be crated or in a little pen away from my people. I howl and chew on the bars, so my foster has found success with leaving me in a bathroom with food, water and a pee pad when they are away. I still don’t love it, but I will settle down. I don’t think an apartment/condo type home would be a good fit, since I do make noise when I’m left. / I am doing well with potty pad training and am working on my outside training now. It’s coming along, but I will need you to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I LOVE to play – with people and other dogs alike. I don’t shy away from rough play with the other dogs. I enjoy cuddling a little bit, as long as I am not missing a great play session somewhere. I like to nap and sleep in a comfy bed with blankets. / Other than the crate, I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and spayed. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
Adoption Process
Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process
Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:
Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!
Adoption Info:
Adoptions are being scheduled for approved applicants, by appointment only.
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets.
