Meet Dexter
LOOKING FOR A GOOD LEADER: Approx. 8 years old / Approx. 15 lbs. Hi, my name is Dexter! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control. I’m grateful for the good care I’m receiving here while I wait for my new family to find me. I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site and learning a lot! Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet. I’d like a good leader as I may have some guarding tendencies which is a trainable trait and the trainers at Mostly Mutts will be happy to help with that. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I recently met some dogs in the prison/foster training program and liked the mellow ones that were around my size, as larger dogs made me nervous, so if you have a dog like this, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / Cats unknown. / No kids as I tend to be nervous and unsure around them and may show guarding behaviors, and I have bitten related to this. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I was a little scared and shy when I first arrived at Mostly Mutts, but the patience of the volunteers and treats have helped me with that. Though it took me a bit to warm up, I soon showed my super sweet and gentle nature and am quite grateful for the love and care I’m receiving. However, I need to meet and approach people on my own terms as new people make me nervous. My reaction to them in “my house” is inappropriate - I may charge, I may hide, and I will definitely bark. Meeting them on a leash has been very effective in the prison/foster training program. Since I am a bit of a barker, I shouldn’t live in an apartment/condo type home. Once I know you’re my people, I’m affectionate and loving – ready to bring lots of joy to my new family. / My energy level is 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and can't wait to learn lots of new skills with my trainer! So far, I have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘down’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands. I also accept nice strangers without jumping. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits have been good on the foster/prison training program schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I am an adorable cuddler who likes to spend my time collecting all the snuggles from the nice volunteers and trainers. I like belly rubs and to give kisses. I adore my trainers and they say I will do best in a quiet home without a lot of folks coming and going. I visited a home recently where I loved exploring in the yard. / New things outdoors scare me a bit, so give me a little time to get used to them. Other than the things mentioned above, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’ve had a dental cleaning, so my mouth is fresh again. I am looking for a quieter type of home with a good leader so I can live my best life with you! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
Adoption Process
Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process
Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:
Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!
Adoption Info:
Adoptions are being scheduled for approved applicants, by appointment only.
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets.
