Meet Athena
Athena is in a foster home and is a wonderful companion. She is good with other dogs and plays with their two cats. She will chase the cats but doesn't hurt them. It takes her a little while to warm up to folks, especially men. Once she accepts you, you have the best friend anyone could ever ask for. Athena will be the one wagging her whole body when you come home. She will be next to you on the couch watching TV and she will be the one lying on the floor next to your bed, waking up happy and ready to start a new day. Athena is not food-aggressive. She knows basic commands but is easily distracted if a squirrel comes into view. She appears to be a hound mix with a birthdate of 8/14/22. House trained. She weighs 46 lbs and is up to date on her shots, spayed, and microchipped. The ideal situation for Athena would be a caring person or family with a large fenced yard where she could run and play. *************************************************************************** This pet comes with an implanted 24 PetWatch microchip and free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. *************************************************************************** This dog is available for adoption at the Humane Society of McCormick County is SC for an adoption fee. All of our dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges. To adopt, contact 864-391-2349 or [email protected]. We are an all-volunteer 501c3 organization. To learn more, visit www.hsmcsc.org.
Adoption Process
Our adoption process starts with an interview. We want to know what type of cat or dog they are looking for, their lifestyle, and their expectations. Then we set up a meet and greet either at the shelter, a pet store, or at their home. Then they fill out an adoption contract. We offer and encourage potential adopters to take the dog or cat home on foster-to-adopt for a few weeks before finalizing the adoption. Our adoption fee is $65 for cats and $125 for dogs which included spay or neuter and vaccinations and for dogs, it includes a microchip. Cats can be microchipped upon request.
