Southern Comfort Animal Rescue

Southern Comfort Animal Rescue, Inc. is 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that rescues and rehomes abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals.Southern Comfort was founded in 2001 in Savannah, Georgia, to provide shelter and find temporary foster or permanent homes for pets left behind when troops in nearby Ft. Stewart's 3rd Infantry Division shipped out to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2006, the organization moved to Glenwood, Georgia. Southern Comfort fills a critical need in Wheeler County, which has no other rescues or animal control. We specialize in physical, social and emotional rehabilitation of our rescues. All animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all medical treatment before being placed in carefully screened forever homes.Southern Comfort is a "no-kill" rescue and only euthanizes in cases of irremediable suffering or vicious and dangerous animals. We also work to raise public awareness of the plight of homeless animals and promote the benefits of adopting an animal in need through community outreach and education.

***ADOPTION PENDING**. Chilli is currently with a SoCo foster home in Georgia but can be transported to New Jersey for our monthly adoption event in Ringoes. Applications for her adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com-no need to register or login. Questions about Chilli and/or our adoption policy should be sent to [email protected]. Please don't call the shelter's number. *** Right after Helene hit our area, a woman found a litter of puppies all alone in a ditch. How or why they ended up in the ditch is a mystery to the woman, but she knew that she couldn't't leave them there. After getting them to her home, she noticed that the smallest of the puppies, Chance, appeared to have been bitten by a larger dog. The woman asked for our help in caring for and placing the pups and we were more than glad to help. Being the only female among this pack, Chilli is also the calmest and even a little shy at times. But give this sweet girl a little time to learn the you're a friend and she will flood your heart with love! A calmer, less commotion home with older children would be best for Chilli. Chilli has had 2 of 3 first year "puppy vaccines, de-wormings and other such care. She should receive another vaccine on Nov. 22 to complete her regiment of first year vaccines. She will need additional house and leash training. Her adopter must agree to having Chilli spay once she reaches 6 months of age and provide verification of such to our rescue.

Adoption Process
we have an adoption questionnaire as well as a contract. The only fees we charge are those we are charged for the animal (vet fees)
