Meet Leonardo DaVinci

Leonardo DaVinci is a 17 month old male Great Dane who weighs in at 130 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $500.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Leonardo's dad recently moved back to his Eastern European country and left him behind. Leonardo was a bit too much for his human grandmom to handle and she reached out to ARF to assist in finding him a new home. Leonardo is a large dog even by Great Dane standards. He currently weighs 130 pounds and the vet said he should gain another 10 pounds. Until early December when ARF took him in his life involved being crated for most of the day and all night unless his human dad was home and awake. Leonardo is not crated in his foster mom's home and he is good at night and when his foster mom is at work. He loves running and playing in his foster mom's yard and he's good about staying out of her vegetable gardens. He enjoys car rides and will run to the garage or car in hopes of another ride. He loves to be petted, loves squeaky toys and bones, however, he is protective of "his" bones. Leonardo is very protective of his home and loudly let's passersby know he's watching. He is leery of new people at first but after a few minutes and lots of treats he accepts the new person as his new best friend.  He plays well with his 45 pound foster dog brother and is friendly with other dogs at the vet office.  Given his size he will do best with older children.   Leonardo was recently neutered and had his cherry eye repaired at the same time.     Leonardo knows sit, wait, and back-up (important in a small house!). He is housetrained and will let you know when he needs to go out.  He is working on remembering leash manners because he's very excited and is interested in so many things when he goes out. Leonardo is a goofy, loving, playful sweetheart of a dog! Leonardo DaVinci is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken, and neutered.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

Adoption Process
Read more about our adoption process on our website at: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ Adoption fees depend on the animal. Please see the pet’s biography for information on their adoption fee. Below is an overview of what you can expect during the pet adoption process: Step 1: Submit an online adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ Step 2: Our volunteers will review your application and reach out with a status. This step can take up to five business days. Step 3: If your application is approved you will be invited to meet with the cat or dog you are interested in at a mutually agreed upon time and location. Step 4: We’ll walk you through the benefits of adopting through A.R.F., then complete the adoption paperwork and collect the adoption fee. Then your new best friend is yours! Step 5: Complete required follow-ups such as obedience training or spay/neuter (if delayed due to medical reasons).
