Rose'

Leia's Hope Canine Rescue

We are a foster based rescue ran by a small group of volunteers. We focus mostly on dogs in puppy mills and as space permits senior dogs. Breeder dogs have a special place in my heart because they have never had the opportunity to just be a dog and live in a home and know what love is. I love watching the transformation in these dogs as they begin to trust and the sparkle comes back into their eyes. I can relate to them in regards that all of us at some time in our life feel unwanted and unloved and we are hopeful, yet doubtful, that we will find what our true potential is. We provide all the vetting for these dogs and they are placed in foster homes until a forever home can be found. We work on gaining their trust and showing them love. It's truly a labor of love!

Meet Rose'

Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Located in Troy, MO Preference: Kids or an active family/couple or a playful dog Rose' is the sweetest lady that didn't have the best start to life. Rose' was born in one of those dreadful puppy mills and she got beat up on a lot! She came into rescue with quite a few puncture wounds from other dogs and was on antibiotics. The wounds are healing and it has not effected her socially! Rose' has very sensitive and thin skin and suspected to have a form of Ehler-Danlos syndrome. Parents need to be diligent about watching for new wounds and seek vet attention if a wound appears. What would be a superficial scratch for a normal dog, could be a big gash for him. Groomers need to be extra careful not to pull much on the fur and skin. It is advised her coat is kept short to minimize tangles and matts requiring more aggressive brushing. She should be kept on a routine groom of 4-6 weeks to keep her hair short.  Rose' is in love with life! She enjoys everything about it, from playing ball in the yard to sleeping with her human! She is friendly with both people and pets (kitties included) and enjoys and soaks up all the attention. She is a smart girl that has learned some basic commands and is eager to please.  Rose' would do best with a family with children/playful dog or an active and social family. This girl has a zest for life that deserves and needs a family that can match that enthusiasm! Rose' has a hygroma on her elbow. This is nothing concerning and is a fluid filled pocket from laying on hard surface and her body attempting to provide a cushion. She should be allowed to sleep on soft surfaces and this will likely go away on its own. It fact, it has gotten better while in our care. This should be monitored after adoption and discussed with her vet.  Rose's adoption fee is $500. She is microchipped, current on age appropriate vaccines and on monthly heart worm prevention. She has not been spayed due to her young age (we spay at 8 months). A spay contract is required. Next steps can be found at leiashope.org.   PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing.  All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!
