KUMA Available for Adoption FAST FACTS Male Akita, 1.5-Years-Old, 61 PoundsSweet, Loving, Gentle, Curious, SmartMedium-to-High Energy (playful, not hyper or jumpy)People/Kid FriendlyDog FriendlyPotty TrainedCrate Trained Hi everyone, I’m Kuma. I was found as a stray on the West side of Chicago and taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control before coming to CARE. The most important thing the staff and volunteers want you to know about me is that I’m a very good, kind, and easy-going dog. One of my favorite activities is going on walks (the longer, the better), where I get make friends with new people and pooches and explore the great outdoors. As you’d expect of my breed, I adore the snow and will chase snow balls or tennis balls for as long as your arm holds out. Inside, I seek out pets and tummy rubs and enjoy playing with my squeaky toys and food puzzles. I look forward to training sessions and am told I have the makings of an obedience superstar because I’m so smart, easily redirected, and will do anything for treats (even kibble). I already know sit, come, stay, and watch and would love to learn lots more. Here are a few other things you’ll want to know about me. Potty trained? Check. Crate trained? Check. Able to switch energy levels from active (outside) to calm (inside)? Check. In fact, I’m even qualified to warm you up on cold winter days—just hug me and press up close to my thick, lush fur, and I’ll do the rest! I think that’s all I have to say, and I hope it’s enough to convince you to fill out an adoption application and schedule a visit with me. I just know we can have a wonderful life together! I been neutered and microchipped and have had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. My adoption fee is $325. For more information or if you would like to meet me, please fill out an adoption survey at carenorthshore.org/dog-adoption-survey Love and licks, Kuma
Adoption Process
Our adoption process has evolved from many years of experience. The goal of our adoption counselors is to make a good match between animal and family. We get to know each cat or dog's unique personality and different needs. If a specific dog, for example, has large amounts of energy and needs lots of space to run, it is unlikely that he would meet the needs of a person who works long hours and would be unable to exercise the dog. It would be a mismatch that would be bad for dog and human alike. Our adoption counselors look forward to working with you to help you find the right pet for your home.
