Meet Zoey, a sweet and gentle 1 year and 8 months old, 45.5 pound, Australian Shepherd who is looking for a patient and understanding home where she can continue to build confidence and feel safe. This lovely girl is making great progress with house training and almost has it mastered. While she’s not a fan of being shut in her crate when her foster family leaves, she does like having it as a cozy retreat when the door is left open when people are home. Zoey loves to run around the house and yard with her canine foster siblings and enjoys playing with toys and chewing on a good bone. She would thrive in a home with another dog to help her feel secure and show her the ropes. She’s more nervous around men but does warm up with time and patience. While she hasn’t been around young children, her foster mom suspects she would do best with older, calmer kids who will respect her space and give her the time she needs to adjust. Because of her initial fearfulness, Zoey will need a home with a securely fenced yard, as she is a flight risk. Her ideal home would be a quiet one with few visitors and a friendly dog companion. Described as shy but playful, reserved but happy, Zoey is learning to trust and is blossoming into a truly joyful pup. Once she settles in, her little nubbin' tail wags like crazy, showing just how much love she has to give. Her minimum adoption fee is $325 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
