Meet Frida

Frida is a 7 month old female Shepherd mix who weighs in at 45 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $450.  If you are still interested, please read more below. ***FRIDA IS SCHEDULED TO BE SPAYED 12/31/24 AND WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AFTER.***  Fill out an application now to be first in line!  Here is what Frida would like you to know about herself: Before coming to ARF, I spent the first 6 months of my life living in a back room with little interaction and not knowing an outside world exists. All I knew was that small place.   I was being given away for free otherwise my owner would put me to sleep. Someone thought about saving me and brought me to their house just to realize the family wasn’t ready for a young dog.    One again, at no fault of my own, I was being offered as “free to a good home”. They wanted me out of the house right away, so whoever came first would be allowed to take me. That’s when someone I call my angel contacted ARF and they agreed to take me into their foster program.   Now, at my foster home I’m just loving life! I got to know how it feels to chase squirrels and my foster brothers in the yard. I like going for long walks and play a lot. This life is so good compared to being in a back room or locked in a crate for long periods.    I’m a smart girl and food motivated, which I'm told is a great combination! I learned really quick the sit command, how to patiently wait for my food and I am working on potty training. I used to do my business inside in that room so even though I’m improving I still have accidents sometimes. Overall, I’m a happy girl, eager to learn and I just love every person I meet.    I would love to have a doggo sibling who can keep up with my energy or an active family so I can burn out all the energy I have. If I sound like the girl you would love to be part of your family, don’t think about it so much! I can’t wait to meet you and have my forever home. I promise I will love you with all my heart.    Love, Frida ❤️ Frida is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations and will be spayed as of 12/31/24.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

Adoption Process
Read more about our adoption process on our website at: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ Adoption fees depend on the animal. Please see the pet’s biography for information on their adoption fee. Below is an overview of what you can expect during the pet adoption process: Step 1: Submit an online adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ Step 2: Our volunteers will review your application and reach out with a status. This step can take up to five business days. Step 3: If your application is approved you will be invited to meet with the cat or dog you are interested in at a mutually agreed upon time and location. Step 4: We’ll walk you through the benefits of adopting through A.R.F., then complete the adoption paperwork and collect the adoption fee. Then your new best friend is yours! Step 5: Complete required follow-ups such as obedience training or spay/neuter (if delayed due to medical reasons).
