Wish Bone Canine Rescue

several people broke off from a local rescue that had become, in our opinion, too much about prestige and money. They also weren't doing a good job in caring for the pets physically and mentally. We want to focus on the quality of our work, not quantity. We do rescue simply because it's the right thing to do! I am a certified vet tech so i've always thought that it's kind of my duty to share my talents.

Meet Riley

Riley, a charming 5-year-old Miniature Australian Shepherd, captivates with her petite 16.1 lbs frame and a story that begins with her role as a breeder release. Despite her initial super-shy demeanor, Riley reveals a sweet disposition that warms the hearts of those patient enough to earn her trust. In the care of her dedicated foster mom, it's evident that Riley thrives in an environment where she can be the center of attention. While her foster mom suggests that Riley may be happiest as the sole canine companion, she also demonstrates an ability to coexist with calm dogs and displays a wonderful compatibility with feline friends. In the world of human interactions, Riley's unique personality shines. The ideal setting for her would be a home with older children, aged 12 and above, who appreciate a quieter and calmer atmosphere, respecting Riley's need for space. A fenced yard is a requirement, providing a safe haven for this delightful Miniature Australian Shepherd. Riley is house-trained and she excels in the security of her crate. Described as reserved, shy/timid, and initially fearful, Riley's journey unfolds to reveal a loyal and quiet companion once trust is established. Her foster mom notes her cautious yet curious nature, sharing insights into Riley's hidden desire for the pampered life. Though slow to warm up, Riley surprises with a willingness to approach, allowing gentle pets and even the possibility of snuggling on a lap. For those interested in making Riley a cherished member of their family, the minimum adoption fee is $400, with an additional $15 fee for rabies registration applicable to McLean County residents if she's 4 months or older. Riley's story is one of transformation and potential, awaiting the right home to bring out the full spectrum of her endearing qualities. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
