ESTRELLA Available for Adoption FAST FACTSFemale Terrier Mix, 2-Years-Old, 20 PoundsSweet, Loving, Cuddly, Gentle, PlayfulMedium EnergyPeople FriendlyDog FriendlyCrate-TrainedPotty Trained Hi everyone. My name is Estrella, and I’m a survivor! When I was diagnosed with heartworm several months ago, my family lacked the resources to care for me and surrendered me to a shelter in Dallas. Fortunately, I was placed in a wonderful foster home, where I received proper treatment and lots of rest. Once I was declared heartworm-free (and started on preventive medication), I was taken back to the shelter and transported to CARE to find my forever home. The volunteers tell me I’m one of the cutest and sweetest pups they’ve ever rescued. Here are some of my likes: every person, child, and dog I meet; playing until I wear myself out; and watching the world around me. But my very favorite thing is being close to humans—ideally, curled up in a lap to snuggle and snooze. I’m happy to report I have excellent house manners, letting you know when I need to go out, never chewing on anything that isn’t mine, and barking only when I need to alert you. Also, I don’t mind staying in my crate when you need to leaveme. That’s all I can think of to tell you about myself, and I hope it’s enough to make you want to fill out an adoption application right away. Although I’m small, I have so much love to give—and it’s all waiting for you! I have been spayed and microchipped and have had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. My adoption fee is $325. Adoption Process
Our adoption process has evolved from many years of experience. The goal of our adoption counselors is to make a good match between animal and family. We get to know each cat or dog's unique personality and different needs. If a specific dog, for example, has large amounts of energy and needs lots of space to run, it is unlikely that he would meet the needs of a person who works long hours and would be unable to exercise the dog. It would be a mismatch that would be bad for dog and human alike. Our adoption counselors look forward to working with you to help you find the right pet for your home.
