Bond County Humane Society

Bond County Humane Society (BCHS) was formed in 2003 by Rachel & Dennis Hundsdorfer and a small group of concerned citizens. The mission is to provide temporary housing to stray, unwanted and neglected cats and dogs until permanent loving homes can be found. Our mission also includes controlling the pet overpopulation through low cost spay/neuter programs. We offer local low cost spay/neuter programs for companion animals and low cost spay/neuter programs for feral free roaming cats. We actively participate in humane education programs with a group of volunteers from surrounding counties to elementary and high schools those counties. BCHS was formed because we saw a need for improving animal welfare in Bond County.

Meet Boomer

Hi, my name is Boomer and I'm about 8 years old.  I was rescued by Bond County Humane Society from Bond County Animal Control.  My story is a sad one and not for the faint of heart.  I was raised in a home since I was 5 weeks old.  I was part of a family that had a toddler and a cat.  Through no fault of my own I was rehomed in October of 2024.  The new owner abandoned me in December 2024.  The reason given was they couldn't take care of me.  They had no idea how expensive dog food and vet care would be.  I ended up at Bond County Animal Control where I was at high risk for euthanasia.  Bond County Humane Society had met me and could not let that happen.  They found a foster home for me and took me in.   My foster mom says I am a very sweet boy and I'm good with her several cats.  One of the cats that doesn't usually like dogs likes me and we groom each other.  I know some commands and I am very willing to learn.  I want to please people if I can.  My foster mom says I whine when I need to go outside to potty.  My biggest fault is I get very excited when I meet new people and dogs. I never went our very much when I was growing up to meet people and dogs.   I am working on getting a little less enthusiastic.  I would probably do best with a young dog that shares my excitement.  A female dog would be best since I was neutered so late in life.  I do need to have a high fenced yard.  In my previous home I would jump the fence and play with the dog next door.  I am available for immediate adoption.  I am neutered, UTD on vaccinations, heartworm tested, treated for internal and external parasites and micro chipped.  My adoption fee is $150.  If you are interested in making me a member of your family please complete an Adoption Profile in person or on-line at www.bondcohumane.org.  Email the completed profile to the address provided.  A copy of our policy regarding warranties, refunds and returns is available upon request.

Adoption Process
All adopters are required to complete an profile. The profile is screened by an adoption counselor. All animals are meant to be pets and live inside.
