Meet Ernie

Pal's Place would love to introduce you to Ernie! Ernie and his brother, Bert, were rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in rural Kentucky. These perfect and precious brothers are estimated to be around 4.5 months old and weigh 45 pounds. Given their current weight and age, we anticipate a mature size of 70-85 pounds. Their breed mix is unknown, but their appearance suggests Boxer, Bullmastiff or Mastiff, and possibly German Shepherd somewhere in their family tree. Bert and Ernie are in a loving foster home in Chicago, waiting to meet their forever families. They are very friendly, social, energetic, and happy puppies and will make first-rate companions! Given their breed type, we expect they will mature to be energetic and intelligent dogs that will do best with active families. Please remember that puppies this age need frequent potty breaks (every 2-3 hours or so) and a generous amount of playtime during the day for the next several months, so please consider if you truly have the time for a puppy before applying. Bert and his littermate, Ernie, are neutered, current with age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and started on flea and heartworm prevention. They are ready and anxious to meet their new families! The adoption fee to the rescue is $475 For more information or an application, please email [email protected] or visit palsplacerescue.org. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within three days of applying. • Ernie's adoption fee is $475. This fee helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Bert and Ernie from euthanasia. • Please email [email protected] for an adoption application, and please put the dog's name in the subject line. Please be sure to check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up in there! • All of our dogs are in foster homes are can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. To receive more info, please email [email protected]. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response. Unfortunately, we cannot hold our adoptable dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an application until you are prepared to adopt.

Adoption Process
The majority of our dogs are rescued from Hazard County, Kentucky. After rescue, the dogs are placed into foster homes in Chicago. Once in fosters, our dogs are fully vetted. This includes age-appropriate vaccines, microchips, parasite control and testing, heartworm testing and treatment if ncessary and any other care needed prior to adoption. All dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered before placement. Our adoption fees for senior dogs (8+) start at $175, our fee for adult dogs is $375 and our fee for puppies 6 months or younger is $475. An application is required to be considered for adoption and an adoption contract is signed at the time of adoption including a clause that any dog must be returned to Pal's Place for placement at any point if the adopter is unable to care for the dog.
