This exceptionally handsome belongs to Jupiter, a 1.5- to 2-year-old, 40-pound male mixed breed looking for a forever family. His breed mix is unknown, but we think he may have some Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Lab in his family tree, along with many other breeds. Jupiter was rescued from an overburdened, open-intake animal control facility in Kentucky. He quickly became a volunteer favorite down there, charming everyone with his happy, social, fun-loving personality. Unfortunately, black dogs are often overlooked and often the last to be rescued and/or adopted. Despite being a favorite, Jupiter was passed over time and time again. He ended up being at the pound for almost 4 months, and while the shelter does have to euthanize for space, Jupey was spared many times because of his fabulous personality. Adoptions and rescues have slowed tremendously over the past couple of months, and with the pound continually being overcapacity, Jupiter's luck was running out. Difficult decisions were going to be made. We at Pal's Place have a soft spot for underdogs, and when we heard the impassioned pleas for his life to be saved, we knew we had to bring him into our foster program. Jupiter is now in a foster home in Chicago, where he is thriving! We are so glad we could help this sweet boy; he is so grateful for a second chance at life. Jupiter is a gem of a dog, and he's social, friendly, extremely affectionate, and easy-going. He loves to clown around, play with toys, and wrestle with his canine foster siblings. He knows how to sit on command, takes treats gently, and is housebroken, and crate trained. Jupiter is also a wonderful mix of energies outside, and when it's playtime, he is pumped, ready to go, and up for any adventure. In the home, he's well-behaved, mellow, and loves cuddling. At 40 pounds, he is a perfect medium size, not too large or too small! Jupiter will make one lucky home very, very happy for years to come. Jupey is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccines, and started on flea and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee to the rescue is $375. He is currently in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been submitted and approved. For more information or an application, please email [email protected] or visit palsplacerescue.org. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. Adoption Process
The majority of our dogs are rescued from Hazard County, Kentucky. After rescue, the dogs are placed into foster homes in Chicago. Once in fosters, our dogs are fully vetted. This includes age-appropriate vaccines, microchips, parasite control and testing, heartworm testing and treatment if ncessary and any other care needed prior to adoption. All dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered before placement. Our adoption fees for senior dogs (8+) start at $175, our fee for adult dogs is $375 and our fee for puppies 6 months or younger is $475. An application is required to be considered for adoption and an adoption contract is signed at the time of adoption including a clause that any dog must be returned to Pal's Place for placement at any point if the adopter is unable to care for the dog.
