Pal's Place would love to introduce you to our sweet and wonderful Gia, an absolutely gorgeous female German Shepherd mix in search of a forever home. Pal's Place rescued this stunning girl from an overburdened animal control facility in Kentucky. Gia was surrendered to the facility with her litter of 5, six-week-old puppies. Unfortunately, her puppies contracted the awful and deadly parvovirus shortly after arriving at the animal control facility, and only one of her precious babies survived, a little female we have named Moxie (also available for adoption). We here at Pal's Place have a soft spot for German Shepherds, and after we heard all that mama Gia had been through, we knew Gia and her only surviving pup needed to be Pal's Place dogs! Gia is now in a loving foster home in Chicago, waiting to meet her forever family. She is estimated to be 1.5-2 years old and weighs around 70 pounds. Despite all she has been through, she remains an incredibly resilient, happy, social, and outgoing dog. Shepherds are known for their intelligence and loyalty; Gia is no exception. She bonds closely with her people and loves to please. She does have more energy and more focus than the average GSD. Because of this, we feel she will do best in an experienced German Shepherd home. She is no couch potato and will not be happy with just long walks or playing ball a few times a week. She'd love a job to do and needs 2-3 hours of vigorous exercise a day, along with plenty of mental stimulation to channel her energy into something productive. She loves to play fetch, and she loves to play in the water. While she does not have any formal training, we think she could be a fantastic companion for guardians looking to participate or train in canine sports or for a running companion. With a little training, Gia would excel in dog sports, such as agility, dock diving, herding, search and rescue, tracking, flyball, etc. Gigi is being fostered with several other dogs and gets along well with her foster housemates. However, she is a high-energy, full-contact, vocal player and will do best in a home with a dog of a similar energy level and play style. She is housebroken and crate trained as well! She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. If you can provide Gia with all she needs to thrive, please get in touch with us today! With the right guardians and environment, she will be a once-in-lifetime dog! • Gia is in a foster home on Chicago's north side and can be visited by appointment only after an adoption application has been completed and approved. Her adoption fee to the rescue is $375. This fee helps to cover her spay, initial vaccines, microchip, and heartworm testing. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. For more information or to receive an application, email [email protected] or visit palsplacerescue.org. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly. • Gia's adoption fee is $375. Adoption Process
The majority of our dogs are rescued from Hazard County, Kentucky. After rescue, the dogs are placed into foster homes in Chicago. Once in fosters, our dogs are fully vetted. This includes age-appropriate vaccines, microchips, parasite control and testing, heartworm testing and treatment if ncessary and any other care needed prior to adoption. All dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered before placement. Our adoption fees for senior dogs (8+) start at $175, our fee for adult dogs is $375 and our fee for puppies 6 months or younger is $475. An application is required to be considered for adoption and an adoption contract is signed at the time of adoption including a clause that any dog must be returned to Pal's Place for placement at any point if the adopter is unable to care for the dog.
