S.A.D. is an all-volunteer 501c3 nonprofit organization located in Starke County, Indiana. We are a private rescue and do not receive funds from the County. We are a foster-based rescue with a mission to serve the homeless dogs by fostering and supporting healthy, positive relationships between people and companion animals. S.A.D. rehomes companion pets into safe, healthy, lifelong homes; serves as an educational and counseling resource; and works to reduce pet overpopulation. We do it because every dog deserves a home

Please read before putting in an applicationWe have a litter of 4 puppies that were born on 2/2/25.  Mom is an AKC Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She had an unplanned breeding with a Golden Retriever from the next-door breeders when he got loose. Since this breeder only breeds AKC Cavaliers, they transferred the litter to us. The estimated adult size is between 35 and 40 lbs. Please make sure to watch their video, as puppies do not take the best photos. We require a fenced-in yard, someone who is home more and has the time to for a puppy, and we do not adopt puppies to families with kids under the age of 8.  Puppies are up to date on vaccinations, deworming, and microchipped. They will not be spayed before adoption, as our vet will not spay under the age of 6 months.  Adopter will sign a spay/ neuter agreement and place a deposit of $75. The spay/neuter deposit is retained by us and shall be returned to the adopter with proof of spay/neuter if you choose to go to your vet. If the adopter lives close to Valparaiso, we can make an appointment and get the puppy spayed for a reduced cost to the adopter when the puppy is 6 months old. Adoptions will be held the weekend of May 10th and 11th. Adoption Fee is $350
