ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED! MACK is a darling little senior dog looking for a home. This sweet boy is around 13-14 years old and 17 pounds. He is a chiweenie (chihuahua/dachshund) type mixed breed boy. Despite his age, little Mack still has plenty of pep in his step and loves to go out for walks. He's an affectionate little fellow who would be happiest as someone's constant companion. Mack loves to carry around soft stuffy toys and REALLY wants to play with his foster brother even though his foster brother is just not interested. Mack needs a little time to warm up to new people. He was adopted from SDHR back in 2013. He and another senior dog landed in a shelter after being found as strays. We suspect his human passed away and he was dumped. He seems to have been well loved over the last 12 years before his life was turned upside down. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Mack is scheduled for a much-needed dental work and his cherry eye will be repaired. His bloodwork looks good, he's a healthy boy other than those two correctible issues. Donors have also sponsored his adoption fee, but a donation would be gladly accepted. Mack seems accustomed to the quiet life. He is best suited to a quiet adults-only home with another friendly dog. If you'd like to meet Mack, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. Mack will not be attending adoption events. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.

Adoption Process
We offer Foster To Adopt for dogs adoptions. You must complete the application, be approved and pay a $100 deposit ($150 puppies). You can then take the dog home for a trial visit of up to one week This will help you determine if you and the dog are the right match. If yes, then you can finalize the adoption. If no, then you return the dog to us and you are welcome to try a different dog. complete the necessary paperwork and pay a $100 deposit for adult dogs and $150 for puppies (cash, check or credit card). This fee is non-refundable, and will be applied to the adoption fee if you decide to finalize the adoption. The adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter surgery, parvo/distemper shots and rabies shots (for dogs over 6 months), deworming, microchipping, flea and tick protection, heartworm testing (for dogs over 6 months), and monthly heartworm protection until the dog gets adopted.
