Kentuckiana Pug Rescue

Kentuckiana Pug Rescue (KPR) is a volunteer-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue organization (permit #P15-001003) committed to helping all needy Pugs in the states of Indiana and Kentucky.  We work to find both abandoned, as well as surrendered Pugs, loving, forever homes in which they can live out the rest of their lives. KPR does not have a central facility where Pugs can be visited.  Each rescued Pug lives with a foster family until they can be placed in an adoptive home.

Meet Max

Max is estimated to be a 1-2y old pug with a heart full of love and a personality that will win you over instantly! He is around 15 lbs and has a beautiful fawn-colored coat.    Max was found as a stray, but he’s quickly learned the ropes in his foster home. His energy is unmatched. He is fearless and loves everyone he meets. Though he’s still working on his house training, he’s making progress everyday. He needs a lot of encouraged but will wear belly bands when not closely supervised. He is perfectly crate trained, though he occasionally whines a bit at first. Once he settles in, he sleeps peacefully in his kennel through the night.   Max gets along well with dogs of all sizes and ages, though he’s a bit rough when wrestling, so he’d do best with dogs his size or larger. He’s still working on his boundaries, but every play session he learns more. He’s smart and has a respectful demeanor with the elderly dog in his foster home.   His finder reported that Max is cat friendly and wanted to play with her cats - so a tolerant cat who enjoys a little excitement would be best. He’s also great with kids and would love to be part of a family.   One of Max’s favorite things in life is squeaky toys—he’ll run around the house, squeaking away and even barking to himself in pure joy! He’s also a fan of bones and anything that gives him the chance to play. While he is very playful, he doesn’t last long entertaining himself. When the boredom sets in, he gets curious which has resulted in chewed headphones and hair ties around the house. He’s also been known to peek in trash cans. He redirects fine when he’s told to stop or take something from his mouth. He just hangs out in his crate while his foster mom works and can’t keep a close eye on him.    Max is an agile little guy—he can easily jump a small garden fence and baby gates. He is also able to climb chain link fences. He will need to be monitored closely in most fenced in yards. He's a natural adventurer who loves his walks and would make an excellent buddy for your outdoor excursions. He also does very well in the car and just sleeps during the ride.    Overall, Max is a bundle of energy and always ready to snuggle up when his energy is spent. While he could use a little bit of training, he’s a great dog that will love to join in on any adventure with his new family!
