Last Hope Animal Rescue

Last Hope Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Formed in March of 2004, we are an all volunteer animal rescue group comprised of foster homes in the greater Cedar Rapids area. Many of our animals come from local kill shelters, as their time has run out due to any number of reasons including lack of space, not deemed adoptable, special needs, etc. Our purpose is to save as many homeless, abused, abandoned, hard to place, neglected animals that we can and to place as many animals as possible into loving, forever homes where they will be cherished.

Meet Mavis

Hi, I'm Mavis! I'm always on the lookout for fun! I'm a super cute, 4 years young girl who loves to paly, get treats, and cuddle! I'm learning lots of fun things like basic commands, its especially fun when treats are involved. I love to cuddle with my foster family or lounge in a comfy doggy bed when I get sleepy. I do great with other dogs, and would love another doggy playmate to play with. I am not very curious about cats, I've learned to leave them alone. I love all people but can be a little barky when I see people or other dogs outside. My foster family has older kids that I love to play with, and I did well when meeting a 5 year old.  I'm still young and will needs lots of love, patience, and training. Remember- nobody is perfect, and I hear that Last Hope offers free training and socialization opportunities. My foster mommy says the right family would be lucky to have me join them because I'm such a good girl with lots of love for you! The adoption fee for Mavis is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives, plus a free basic training course at Cedar Run #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires all animals be kept as indoor only pets and that adopters have a history of keeping their pets altered and current on vaccines and prevention. Our adoption process includes background and reference checks, a vet history check, and a home visit. If you would like to meet or adopt Mavis, please fill out an adoption application for consideration on our website, Adopthope.org

Adoption Process
Prior to adoption, all of our dogs have been tested for heartworm, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit. The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies. Prior to adoption, our cats have been tested for feline leukemia, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. If at the time of adoption, the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered, an agreed upon time frame will be set for when this procedure is to be done. Spaying or neutering is not an optional procedure, it is required of all animals we rescue. The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.
