Meet Verona

Verona is a Maltese mix who came to the shelter on November 8th as a local breeder release. We're guessing she's around 2 years old and that she could be mixed with other small breeds like poodle and/or Yorkie. Verona is bouncy and outgoing once she is comfortable. She will be spayed on Nov. 19th and her fee is $200. Verona needs a somewhat quiet home with the the ability to give her the time she needs to adjust and the training she requires. She's a sweet girl but does scare easily. We think she would do best in an adult only home (teens are fine). She should be okay with other smaller dogs. We don't think cats would be a problem. A fenced yard would be perfect for her. She has been recently shaved but will require regular grooming. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.  

Adoption Process
Starts with written Application form which includes questions regarding housing situation (rent/own etc. renters require landlord approval), History of previous or current pets, Vet information, Animal housing information (cats must be indoors, dogs fenced yard etc.). Fees for Cat Adoptions are $50 (or $75 for two) Dogs vary based on breed, size, etc. Average is $125.
