Meet Carmen

Carmen is an approximately 4-month-old possible Pitbull terrier mix (approx. 14 lbs). She will likely be a medium - medium/large sized dog. Carmen is very inquisitive, fearless and smart! She is extremely food motivated and that makes training an easier task. She knows basic commands (sit and lay-down) with minor prompts or hand gestures. We are currently working on stay, shake and roll-over. Potty training is going well, but she will need a family that is willing to continue getting her fully potty trained. She uses puppy pads during the day while we are at work and overnight; we recently had a successful no accident night! Carmen is doing well with kennel training. She will cry or whimper at times when kenneled, mainly at night when she needs to go potty. She prefers to be by her humans' side rather than cooped up alone. She would love nothing more than to be your shadow and personal snuggle-bug. In her foster's home, Carmen has done well with other dogs, but it is unknown how she would interact with cats. Slow introductions would greatly benefit new pet interactions. It is unknown how Carmen is around kids but would likely do well in a home with older children with proper dog manners due to her current age, size and need to explore the world with her mouth. CARMEN IS NOT A GOOD FIT FOR AN APARTMENT OR SHARED WALLS. Carmen  came from Oklahoma with the Parvo virus and was admitted to Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital the next day. She has fully recovered from the virus and is 3 weeks out from her discharge from the hospital. Carmen is a normal active puppy with no symptoms and should have no further complications as a result of her diagnosis.  Siblings: Reina (F)   Sugar Pie (F)  Jules (F)  Carmen (F) Yoshi (M)  Kekoa (M) If you are interested in meeting Carmen,  please complete an online application at  https://hopeanimalrescueofiowa.duplie.com/forms/196/dog-application Adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter, microchip, and age appropriate vaccines.
