Meet Kahlua

"Hi folks! It's me- Kahlúa! Also known as cutie...so many call me that!  I am a bit of a diva with this cuteness, dressing up, and posing for the camera...well I cooperate for treats! They find me to be energetic, strong willed, intelligent, playful and busy. With my cuteness also comes a bit of vocalization...true to the Husky in me! I love to not be left out and be with my humans! I am working on crate training but am not a fan! Potty pad trained and will begin working on house training once I am further along in vetting. My favorite toys are toys with crinkle noises, talking toys, tug of war toys, and really anything my foster canine fur siblings have...I gotta have it! I would do well with an experienced active breed dog person...available and active committed to my continued positive reinforcement training, need for lots of physical and mental enrichment activities...then I would love to interview you! Added bonus if you have another active dog or we can go to doggy daycare too!" Kahlúa was a local surrender at 6 1/2 weeks of age and was said to be a Husky and Irish Setter mix with date of birth 10/15/24. At 6 1/2 wks she weighed over 12 lbs and is anticipated to be a large dog full grown. She is in a foster home with other dogs and does well. There is a cat and she is continuing to work on co-existing with the cat. Because she will be large and is energetic a home without little kids would be best.  If you are interested in meeting, please complete an online application. On your application please include information on any experience you have working with such active, strong-willed, intelligent breeds. Apply:  https://hopeanimalrescueofiowa.duplie.com/forms/196/dog-application  Adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter, microchip, and age appropriate vaccines/cares. She is working on completing her vetting which includes her spay on February 4, 2025 at our vet partner in Grimes. The adopter will be responsible for taking her to and from this appointment. Until her vetting is complete we are only accepting applications within 30 minutes of the Des Moines area.

Adoption Process
We require an application be completed, do home visits and check references. Have meet and greets with children and other pets. We require animals be returned to us if circumstances change.
