Hearts United for Animals

Hearts United for Animals is a Smithsonian Award winning, state-of-the-art no-kill shelter and sanctuary dedicated to relieving the suffering of domestic animals. HUA has rescued over 12,000 dogs from puppy mills, provided low cost spay/neuter services for over 14,000 patients, and offers temporary housing for animals of families fleeing domestic violence. We have placed thousands of cats and dogs in wonderful new homes across the country through our JetSet Dogs program. The Proud Pets Program provides free veterinary care for the beloved pets of previously homeless veterans. With your support, we continue with these very important missions of mercy that save precious lives and heal broken hearts.

Meet Sarge

Sarge was found as a stray in a small town near the HUA shelter. He was soon adopted and he bonded strongly with the man of the house, so much so that Sarge did not want to share him with other family members and Sarge was brought back to HUA. This handsome hound dog is really quite delightful. He's happy, playful, loves being outdoors, and woo woo woo's like any good hound should. He is very treat motivated and easy to train. He gets along with some other dogs but he can be a bit picky as to whom he chooses for a canine friend. He may be happier as an only child. The best home for this lovely boy would be a moderately active person or persons who will give Sarge the confidence and training he needs to become a good family pup. Sarge is so special that he was made with a perfect heart shape on his right side. Love is for sure in the cards for this gorgeous boy. Visit Sarge at www.hua.org!
