Last Hope Animal Rescue

Last Hope Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Formed in March of 2004, we are an all volunteer animal rescue group comprised of foster homes in the greater Cedar Rapids area. Many of our animals come from local kill shelters, as their time has run out due to any number of reasons including lack of space, not deemed adoptable, special needs, etc. Our purpose is to save as many homeless, abused, abandoned, hard to place, neglected animals that we can and to place as many animals as possible into loving, forever homes where they will be cherished.

Meet Otis

Otis is a happy go lucky fun loving 1 year old mixed breed that came in from a local overflowing animal shelter after being surrendered by his previous owners. Otis loves to run and play by himself but also loves to wrestle with his foster siblings. Otis will do best in a home with another playful dog sibling. He would also love a fenced in backyard that he can run around in. Otis can be the neighborhood watch dog as he loves to sit and look over the fence waiting for his neighbor dog friends to come out. Otis does go in a kennel during the day and has learned to be calmer in a kennel but he is not a huge fan of it and would prefer his humans to be home so he can roam free. Even with all of his puppy energy in the evening Otis loves to curl up on the couch next to humans and relax. He even watches the tv with you sometimes. Otis is a fun sweet loving dog looking for his furever home. Otis has not been tested around cats but loves any and all humans that he sees.    The adoption fee for Otis is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and monthly preventatives. Also included in his adoption fee is a free basic training course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha. Otis is seeking an indoor only home, if you would like to meet him please visit our website, adopthope.org, to submit an adoption application for consideration. Last Hope requires that all adopters have a history of having kept any pets as indoor pets only,  altered and kept current on vaccinations and annual exams. Our adoption process includes a vet, history check, and a home visit.

Adoption Process
Prior to adoption, all of our dogs have been tested for heartworm, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit. The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies. Prior to adoption, our cats have been tested for feline leukemia, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. If at the time of adoption, the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered, an agreed upon time frame will be set for when this procedure is to be done. Spaying or neutering is not an optional procedure, it is required of all animals we rescue. The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.
