Last Hope Animal Rescue

Last Hope Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Formed in March of 2004, we are an all volunteer animal rescue group comprised of foster homes in the greater Cedar Rapids area. Many of our animals come from local kill shelters, as their time has run out due to any number of reasons including lack of space, not deemed adoptable, special needs, etc. Our purpose is to save as many homeless, abused, abandoned, hard to place, neglected animals that we can and to place as many animals as possible into loving, forever homes where they will be cherished.

Meet Roo

Roo is big and beautiful female shepherd mix, estimated to be around 6 years old.  Roo found herself surrendered to a local shelter, who then reached out to Last Hope for help as they saw the potential in this girl to be a terrific companion!   We aren't sure what Roo's life was like before joining rescue, we can tell that she is fearful of some strangers and doesn't seem to have had a whole lot of experience with the world or meeting other dogs.  Rather than feel bad for her, we decided to change this and make it our goal to help her learn about all the great things that can happen when you start to explore your world and gain some dog confidence!    Roo has worked with a trainer on some basic things like leash training, she's also met lots of new people to work on meeting strangers with ease.  Roo is a smart girl that will enjoy a savvy dog owner that can continue to grow her confidence with positive experiences.  In return, you'll enjoy a kennel and potty trained female with an easy going demeanor that will thrive in a home where she can be the only pet and enjoy lots of attention! Roo is seeking an adults only home, please.   Roo's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccines and preventatives plus free training from Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha. Roo is seeking a home as an indoor only dog, if you would like to meet her please submit an adoption application at Adopthope.org. Last Hope requires that adopters who have owned/own pets have a history of having kept them altered, as indoor only pets and kept current on vaccines and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a vet history check and a home visit.

Adoption Process
Prior to adoption, all of our dogs have been tested for heartworm, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit. The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies. Prior to adoption, our cats have been tested for feline leukemia, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. If at the time of adoption, the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered, an agreed upon time frame will be set for when this procedure is to be done. Spaying or neutering is not an optional procedure, it is required of all animals we rescue. The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.
