Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Carnation

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Carnation is the name of this striking girl.  Her Momma India had a litter of 10 pups that she was trying to keep safe under an old abandoned car out on the reservation.  When we got the crew into our care, the babies didn't even have their eyes open, which for them was great because when they opened them they saw a life of safety, love and care with the shelter instead of surviving on their own out in the wild. India is a mixed breed that resembles a red shepherd and as you can see Carnation has those same shepherd characteristics with a little something else mixed in too!   Carnation is a confident girl that is ready to learn.  She is very much about the humans in the room and doesn't take much notice of other dogs or cats. She is an intelligent girl and will be fun to train and to work with.  Carnation was born July 27th and she is ready for her next adventure...finding a family of her own!   Carnation is up to date on vaccinations, micro-chipped and will be adopted on spay/neuter contract.  Her adoption fee is $300.00

Adoption Process
application, adoption fees for dogs/puppies start at $150-$300. Cats/kittens are free will offering adoptions. Contracts for adoptions must be signed. All animals (unless too young) are altered prior to adoption. If not altered a deposit is paid and given back plus a rebate after the alteration has been performed.
