Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Harper

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** This pint sized lil lady is Harper.  Harper has had a couple of homes in her lifetime and she would like to find her forever home this time.  Since both of Harper's previous owners both went to nursing homes leaving her looking for a family once again she is waiting in a foster home with us.  Harper is a little 7 year old Shih tzu and you might be able to tell in her photos she has an eye that sustained an injury back when she was just a youngster.  Harper would like a home that has a nice couch, a big window to look outside and bark at the world from the comfort and safety of the living room and preferably no other dogs.  She does fine with cats though.  We haven't had her with any small children yet.  She does great in the house but doesn't love car rides....they make her anxious. Harper is spayed, recently groomed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $250 so if you are looking for a tiny friend, have a home she can be comfy in and are ready to give her love for the rest of her life....send us your application! 

Adoption Process
application, adoption fees for dogs/puppies start at $150-$300. Cats/kittens are free will offering adoptions. Contracts for adoptions must be signed. All animals (unless too young) are altered prior to adoption. If not altered a deposit is paid and given back plus a rebate after the alteration has been performed.
