Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Roscoe

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Roscoe and his sister Lila were found abandoned in the countryside.  A kind person took them in so that we could find them each a home to call their own.  Her dogs helped teach the pups the ropes of being good dogs and they are learning more everyday.  Roscoe is outgoing, rambunctious, brave and affectionate.  Lila is sweet, mild, timid and affectionate.  Both pups love other dogs.  They do tend to have a strong prey drive and while there are no cats on the property they do chase other small creatures.  They will need a fair amount of exercise and mental stimulation because they appear to be of the herding group.  Both pups are very good about staying on the property even off leash.  The pups were likely born early summer 2024 and are altered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.  Their adoption fee is $300.00

Adoption Process
application, adoption fees for dogs/puppies start at $150-$300. Cats/kittens are free will offering adoptions. Contracts for adoptions must be signed. All animals (unless too young) are altered prior to adoption. If not altered a deposit is paid and given back plus a rebate after the alteration has been performed.
