Dakota Dachshund Rescue

Diane started doing fostering at the Sioux Falls Humane Society and then Pet Pals for Life. She had a passion for dachshunds. We noticed that the Sioux Falls area had a need for a dachshund rescue so her and I (Doug) started DDR. The response and need was much greater than we anticipated.

He loves to hang with his people whatever they are doing. He walks on a leash but still pulls a bit so he will need to work on that. He has done well with the other foster dogs. He really would love a fenced yard to run in. Older kids are best so he doesnt accidentally knock them over when he is excited. Are you looking for a bestie?  Bill is your guy! Bill is about 4 years old and weighs about 27 pounds. His adoption fee is $350 plus $15.75 tax for a total of $365.75.  My adoption fee helps cover all of my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, neuter and dental.

Adoption Process
Usually we are contacted by a SD shelter about a dachshund that is not doing well (nipping etc.) and that they are going to be put down. We take them in get them vetted and then place them up for adoption after they have been evaluated. We also take calls from folks who have called their local shelter about there dachshund that may have started nipping at small children etc and are told the dog would be put down. We also take calls from other rescues about breeder dogs.
