Emmet County Animal Shelter

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Meet Tinky

***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Momma Tinker (she's available for adoption too) made some pretty cute and sweet baby dogs!  Meet the crew....Tinkling, Tinkler, Tinkles, Tinky and Tink!  These cute babies were born the end of August and have been at the shelter since they were very small.  Their momma Tinker was all alone in the middle of nowhere on Pineridge reservation when she wandered onto a kind woman's property.  After Tinker hung around for a few days she noticed how pregnant she was and reached out to Lightshine Canine to see if they could take her in.  It would be a few days before their rescue team could make it out there to the lady's property since it was so remote, so she made a small doghouse for her to at least have a spot to have the pups in if it came to that.  Soon after Tinker had her babies in the little house that was lovingly made for her.  Then the team made their way out to gather up the little family to take them to veterinary boarding while they waited for their ride to us.  The babes were just about a week old when they arrived, and Tinker was very excited to be where there were so many people to give her pets!!!  But the time has come that everyone needs to find their own home and their own family.  The puppies are all sweet, social and working on their potty training.  If you are considering Tinkling or Tinkler our two white babies, keep in mind their fur coat should not be cut or shaved but they will require regular brushing/grooming to keep their coat looking nice.  The pups are up to date on vaccinations for their age and microchipped.  They will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract and their adoption fee is $300.00

Adoption Process
